They are targeted to geographical areas and ethnic groups experiencing high unemployment. Some of the characteristics of these scams are requiring job- seekers to provide credit card or bank account information to verify that the job-seeker can pay the job search fees once the job is found; requiring payment up front for the service; and misrepresenting refund policies and guarantees. In return for the required information of payment, consumers will receive (at best) a list of businesses to apply to. More often, & worse, they receive nothing. Money is withdrawn from their bank accounts without their knowledge or authorization.
